From the Ground Up
TikTok growth strategy for The Deconstruction Room
The Challenge
The Deconstruction Room was a brand-new podcast centered on healing from religious trauma. With no existing audience, brand recognition, or social proof, the challenge was to build awareness before the first episode even launched. The goal was to use TikTok to introduce the podcast's mission, connect with people who resonated with its message, and begin cultivating an engaged community from the ground up.
My Role
I developed and executed the TikTok content strategy, identifying trends, creating short-form video content, writing captions, optimizing posts for discoverability, and monitoring performance to refine the approach as the account grew.
Since no podcast episodes had been released yet, I focused on creating standalone content that could build interest in the show while encouraging viewers to learn more. By combining engaging hooks, trend-based formats, and audience-focused storytelling, I aimed to maximize reach and spark interaction.
Once the account reached 100 followers and I received access to more accurate analytics, I adjusted the strategy to grow the account even further. The project ended after the first two podcast episodes were launched.
The Results
By focusing on audience-first content rather than simply promoting the podcast, I helped establish an engaged community and generate early momentum before launch.
